The Windmill (Hotel)

What a lovely time had at the Windmill. Superb service from reception and bar to restaurant. Big shout out to our waitress, really fab. Lovely room, perfect location and super easy to get in late at night.

Overall a good experience. Some attention to detail we feel could be worked on and feel it’s worth sharing to create a 5 star rather than 3/4 star experience. Pros: great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants, well equipped comfortable rooms, fast check in, good food, beautiful setting. Cons: there was a strong smell of BO when we checked in which was quite off putting. Maybe a scent diffuser would be a nice touch. The gorgeous breakfast area was tainted by filthy chairs and sofas - dog hair, crumbs, crusty old food. We noticed the same remnants on all three mornings we had breakfast which indicated they were not cleaned during the period we were there. The staff said cleaning staff were meant to clean daily. Management need to look into this and breakfast staff should check the seating before service. The morning we were to check out, cleaning staff were sitting outside our room from 10am (check out is 11am), blocking the corridor, chatting loudly whilst waiting for us to leave. It made us feel we had to rush and was quite disrespectful to us as paying guests. Cleaning staff should not be loitering around guest rooms waiting. Staff could have been friendlier. Some were friendlier than others but at times it felt the staff were more interested in chatting with each other than paying attention to guests. These are small but significant details that overall affected our first impression of staying at the hotel which is a great shame as it has 5 star qualities!

Had a lovely stay. Its a really well located hotel looking onto Clapham Common and set back from the main road so traffic noise is not an issue. Our room was cosy and perfect for a winter break. Special mention must go to Nagi on reception - he was so polite, helpful and friendly and we learnt he'd been at the hotel for 20 years, how he keep so friendly after so long is amazing! Pub was super busy but we had no noise leakage to our room so that was great.

Gorgeous hotel, beautiful rooms, lovely and very accommodating staff. Everything in the room was to the highest quality and the building is so charming. The pub is also great, open fire and loads of drinks/food options. Perfect location too! It's worth paying a little extra and getting a boutique room, newly refurbished and so nice. We'll be back :)

As always everything was just perfect. Superb staff and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Beautiful and clean room and bathroom. - excellent breakfast, first time we have had breakfast and will definitely be having another one. Love the bright and airy room. Thank you

I rented out a room at the Windmill at Clapham Common for two nights and was not disappointed. The beds were some of the most comfortable beds I slept in, and the hotel is very well located. Quiet yet very central with easy access to the remainder of London. The pub food and drinks were also super! Definitely coming back!

We absolutely loved it - the rooms are nicely decorated, quirky with lovely little touches, like the old-style radio. Our room was huge with a really comfortable bed + snug duvet. There was really good heating as well though, so you won't be cold. Staff were really nice and the location is amazing - slap bang on Clapham Common. There was a squirrel out the window! The pub downstairs does nice food so it's really handy. It's not loud or rowdy though - we heard absolutely no noise. It closes at 11 anyway I think.

Room was spacious, warm and comfortable. Bathroom was clean with a separate shower as well as a bath. Toiletries provided as well as good tea/coffee making facilities. Short walk from Clapham South on the Northern Line so easy access into London. Pub/restaurant prices looked high, but then it is London. Breakfast was included and was nicely cooked. Certainly would stay again.
